Canal Studios is my take on the adaptive reuse of an existing warehouse located along the Leeds Liverpool canal, transforming it into a co-living creative environment for artists, makers and the public. Rather than demolishing the existing warehouse, the design retains the industrial heritage of the building, allowing its history to influence my design choices. A new extension is introduced alongside the existing warehouse, connected by balconies and pathways that encourage movement and interaction between the creatives living there and the public visiting the cafe or viewing art in the exhibition hall. Overall, the project seeks to revitalise an underused industrial site, creating a sustainable and socially driven space that supports creativity and community.
